I have some that's about .340 thick if you'd like a piece of that.

Thanks Ira! The cap I turned from some hardwoods I had on hand was a bit more than .75 inch thick. There are a couple of places I know of in Portland, OR that probably have the thickness I would need. If I can't find some locally, I'll be back to you.

Do you think the acrylic will scratch or get cloudy eventually? I wonder how a nice heavy piece of glass would work...

I think acrylic might haze over time, but it can be re-polished . Glass would be nice but maybe a bit more noisy and fragile.

I'm happy to see how many like minded people are here. I think we all agree it is difficult to improve on the design and more so the fabrication of the Kafatek grinders, but its nice to see others feeling like I did, that it would be nice to be able to see the beans going down and spinning around!

I really like my clear top, and cannot see myself wanting to go back to being in the dark. Is this a difference I can taste - certainly not!
