The first version of the HG-1 was fixed alignment, although you could dismantle and shim if you thought it was necessary and that procedure was at your own risk

The second version had the user adjustable alignment and could be adjusted with patience and trial and error. The biggest advantage to that version HG-1 grinder was the stepped grinding settings.

The third version has retained the stepped grind setting, which IMO is great, and went back to the original factory aligned burrs. Should be a very good hand grinder!

Originally they offered a 71mm burr or a 83mm burr, both Mazzer Bead Blasted, i.e. factory burrs. For a while they offered factory TiN burrs and aftermarket TiN burrs.

So apparently the consensus was that a decent factory alignment was the way to go and 83mm burr are the only burrs offered.

Wish I had the new model to motorize!

Thank you, everyone. I think I'll go with the latest version. In the unlikely event that I need to adjust, it can still be subverted :) via shims.

Can't wait till Xmas.
