What type of hose is this?

I need to replace a piece of hose and I'm hoping someone can help me in identifying what type of hose this is (silicone? LDPE?):
It came out of an older La Cimbali M20 heat exchanger.
Here are the particulars:
Its not very flexible, 15cm long, and has an OD of 7.9mm and an ID of 5.9mm
Thanks everybody!

Hi, it looks like PE... but PE has a melting point just above the temperature in hx (and softening point way lower).
Yesterday I posted in my M15 restoration thread a picture showing such pipe sticking out of my group. But mine is really rubber-like, I mean flexible. And it's black (but this could be caused by coffee
I guess you can replace it with anything that will withstand 120C and is not toxic

Hello:
http://www.cafeparts.com/productDetail1 ... emID=68622
It is a part common to a few espresso machines.
My guess is that it's Teflon or some variant of it.
If you can get some Teflon tubing the same size you can use it to replace it.
Make sure both the OD as well as the length are the same.
Just look for 5/16" Teflon tubing with the same ID, Grainger probably has it.
Cheers,
CIV
It is part of this assembly, called group outlet tube:Fixitupper wrote:I need to replace a piece of hose and I'm hoping someone can help me in identifying what type of hose this is ...

Looks like 6mm OD teflon to me. This would normally be used to carry water under pressure and would use suitable connectors at each end. Show me the connectors and I can be more specific. (EDIT:) just read the "came out of a HX" bit, which would definitely make it PTFE, likely 8mm OD x 6mm ID, which is a "standard" Italian teflon hose spec.

length is very important. If you go shorter or longer it will mess with the HX intermix and change the recovery rate and stability of the heat exchange system. The machines I have rebuilt that injector was always copper.

Thanks for the replies everybody. Sure makes sourcing parts a lot easier.
