Smallest possible hopper for Mazzer Super Jolly?

Grinders are one of the keys to exceptional espresso. Discuss them here.

Are there any hoppers that will fit the Super Jolly and which are short enough to make it fit under standard cabinets (~17.5")?

It is my understanding (based on info from chris coffee) that the machine without a hopper sits at 13", and the smallest available mazzer hopper is 6" tall, resulting in a total of 19" tall. This would mean that for the SJ to fit under cabinets it would need another hopper that a at most ~4-4.5" tall (including the lid) and which is compatible. Does this exist?

I realize single dosing is another option.

You can always use a short hunk of PVC pipe and just load 3 or so doses of coffee in it. Other option is cut down a short hopper until it fits.

Here's a great thread on shortening a hopper, as Dave suggested.

Here is an example of a perspex pipe with a cylindrical piece of aluminum in the hopes of keeping the weight roughly the same independent of fill level. Camera lens cover on the top.

I used to use a glass canning funnel hopper on my SJ. Dave made me a Cocobolo lid for it.

If you go with single dosing, you should be able to use a spare filter basket, like I do on my Mini:

This fits nice and snugly, and goes under any cabinet.

Of course, Mini looses it's funny face:

Thanks for all the replies everyone! However, at this time the question is moot (to me at least - maybe someone else will find this useful), as I just purchased a fiorenzato f4 electric.

That said, this forum leads me to believe that one day (hopefully not too soon) I'll want to upgrade, so maybe then I can use some of this info ;)
