My stepkiddo and his wife brought me a late mother's day gift, a little coffee plant. I live in Minnesota, which means the plant gets to live on my front porch (north-facing, with bright but indirect light) over the summer, then it's going to my husband's workplace where he's got plenty of light. Totally amuses me that my coffee-hater will be caring for my coffee plant.

First thing I did was transplant it from the mug the seedling was growing in, to a proper-sized pot. Here's the plant now. It's sitting on the little cafe-table where I drink my coffee on summer weekends. (not shown is a little coffee-themed wind chime hanging a little above it). The green mug it WAS growing in, is shown in the foreground.

I got one too!

I killed it. Coffee plants don't like Wisconsin.

Yikes! Any advice on how to not kill it?

(Hello, neighbor).

Yeah, don't let me try to take care of it. Luckily I'm much better with kids than plants.

Yes, she has invited me over from St Paul about the 15th of February when Old Man winter has his ways with us.

We will only pick the cherries.

If in 5+ years, when the plant matures, and I manage to get it to flower and produce fruit, you can bet I'll throw a harvest party!
