I think a better example would be for him to point to a pattern of failures from alleged "thin/flimsy" stainless boilers. I'm pretty sure if this was an issue we'd have some feedback via the forum. These boilers are built to hold pressures much higher than operating pressure as part of design tolerance. This fascination with boiler material, from both sides, sniffs of "my machine has X material boiler so any other material must be inferior."

Copper is getting very expensive to work with. I would expect to see more stainless boilers down the road due to cost control more than anything else. Keep in mind that on an E61 a stainless boiler isn't making the machine more tolerant to descale or abuse. You would still be eroding the group in that scenario. There is decades of evidence that copper boilers will last decades if cared for properly. I would expect the same with stainless. An E61 group on either is going to be in pretty bad shape if abused.
