Hi everyone. I have a pressurized portafilter in my lapavoni gran caffe. http://www.creativecoffee.ca/Espresso-S ... GCM-p1464/

Can i switch to a non pressurized portafilter without any issues?

The machine should be compatible?

Thanks

I don't see any reason you couldn't use a standard (non-pressurized) portafilter with that machine. Nor do I see any reason to not make that transition.

I don't think there is much doubt that some pressurization of the portafilter increases crema (or something similar to crema). But if the portafilter reduces (below normal) the pressure drop across the coffee and one compensates with a coarser grind, that's typically a negative. Ie I see nothing wrong with an espresso machine that can produce 11 bars with 9 bars of pressure drop across the coffee and 2 bars of pressure drop across some exit restriction.
