Hey y'all!

I just opened up my espresso machine, a La Nuova Era Cuadra, for some inspection on the boiler and noticed some weird changes in the boiler color as well as calcium build up on a pipe and a strange black goop under another, both coming directly from the boiler.

I am extrememly confused on how to even approach this issue and would love any advice. I bought this machine secondhand so a warranty isn't possible. Should I send it in to get professionally descaled and cleaner or should I buy some replacement parts myself?

Thanks!

Some of the boiler discoloration could be etching from acidic descaling solution that dripped, or more likely sprayed, onto the boiler at one point (ask me how I know ...). Are the discolored spots smooth like the rest of the boiler, or rougher (or otherwise differently textured)?

No idea what the black stuff is, though I'd worry more about that than the color changes.
