Is it $700 cheaper? Isn't the AL the tank model that sells for $2100 over here? The German shop wants $1600 + shipping/+ import duties/+custom fees. I doubt you'll end up saving much & no US distributor is going to offer warranty back up on a machine that they didn't sell.dylanmhowell wrote:The machine I want to get (Bezzera Strega) is ~$700 cheaper if I buy from Germany right now.. Will I just need a simple outlet adapter like I would use when traveling?

I just recently acquired a brand new NS Musica with Euro 240VAC. I looked at the transformer option. Forget it. A 3000-5000 watt box weighs 35 lbs, in your kitchen.
I was fortunate that my breaker panel box was near my machine. I just wired in a 3 wire 240 VAC plug for my machine. I purchased a Nema 6-15r outlet and a 240VAC-15Amp circuit breaker from HomeDepot. I also changed the cord on the machine to a NEMA 16 cord. I could have just changed the Euro-cord plug, but I opted to just exchange it for the North American version. The whole job was done in 2 hours.
Here are some pictures to help guide you:

Now I have a North American 240VAC machine, works fantastic! No problems with heating (if anything, its faster than my old NS Oscar). No problems with the NS Musica electronics. It all just works!!!
BTW, I saved $2,000 on the machine.
