Rancilio Silvia - no water through brew head

Hi folks,
I have a Silvia V1, that's been working great, until now.
It just suddenly stopped pumping water through the group head.
It does through the steam wand however. (Both pumping hot water and steam)
I cleaned the solenoid valves according to these instructions:
http://memweb.newsguy.com/~jenkins/silvia/index.html
I also removed the shower screen and cleaned the group head.
None of the above helped.
What else could it be? Pump does seem to work - even though prior to this problem it did make an unfamiliar sound when turned on (and it was not the clicking "air bubbles" sound that sometimes happens when there's not enough water in the tank). It was maybe a bit similar, but hard to the describe. It occured for a few seconds after turning on the pump and then disappeared. Could be unrelated of course.
Any ideas?
Best,
Chris

I've spent some time reading up, and some previous posts indicate that I might have a problem with the coil (?).
How would I test the coil with a multimeter?

With machine off, and wires disconnected, there seems to be no contiunuity between the two wires (or ground) going to the coil.
I suppose that means it may be broken?
And where would I find a replacement? (I'm in the UK)
Cheers
