I always found that the sound of the running motor's load made for finer adjustment than trying to use the numbers/letters. So if I went from 2A to 1-anything I'd listen to the motor on 2A, then pull the fineness slider down to about Q. The motor load will lessen. Then bump the macro up to 1 and the load will increase. Now adjust the fineness slider to match the original 2A load sound. Now you're in the 1 macro range in a similar spot to where you were in the 2 macro range. Now adjust fineness to your new desired setting.

My apologies Ruben, after going back through my manual I realized that my knowledge regarding this behavior is a result of experience and this website.

No worries. But it is a shame that the manual is so poorly documented.
