Domobar Jr Hx Temperatures
A PID on an HX machine doesn't remove the requirement for managing the brew temperature yourself. See, for example, "HX Love - Managing the Brew Temperature" Regrettably, both the manometer and the temperature gauge go in the ...

The heat thing is on my radar, I have a couple of ideas on how to solve it. One is to insulate the group head and build a heat shield divider for it. The other is to pop a handful of holes in the cover plate directly above it, and fabricate a drip shield. That should keep the temp down

Help purchasing ECM Home, Profitec Go, or Pro 300...
Good morning everyone! I ask for your help in choosing my next espresso machine. My coffee grinder is a Eureka Specialità which was combined with a Gaggia Evo. My choice was the Profitec Drive, but from what I have read and understood, I would have to empty it continuously due to the problem of lime...

Nice job - pid install looks good but agree that it may not like the heat up there I did a restore on a very similar machine: "Astoria SAE Junior (CMA/Laurentis/RIO) Refurbish Log" The pid is not very useful for this machine since it's a heat exchanger You need to flush the group head before pulling a

I did the PID install today, thanks to @sar5w for the info. I was going to cut threads in the boiler for the RTD his method is to relocate the vac breaker to the sight glass which made more sense. Spoiler: The PID I had sitting on my shelf appears to have a bad output (probably why it

Is Heat Exchanger Temperature Stability Really That Bad?
The quote of the separate boiler in the Bianca isn't from me.. just a cut/paste typo.. but I would agree that a separate boiler for the brew water is a huge, huge improvement. The problem is one of marketing hype and flat out errors from both the manufacturers and distributors. WLL designed the Pro ...

Understanding Brew Pressure, Flow, Valves, and "Slayer Shots"
I agree with Jake that in practice, a PID to control the steam boiler is not a problem at all, especially in a home environment. The chunky Sirai pressurestat on my old Quickmill E61 has been going strong for 16 years. Nary a carbon trace on ...
