SSP 64mm Burrs - Comments

if i can comment, ssp cast cup profile taste very similar to my 1zk hand grinder. what i can say about both ssp cast and mp is that as you push higher temp and overextraction, it does not develop that rough on the tongue and throat astringency, rather it just turns to a bitter wall of aftertaste and dry

Best upgrade for Mazzer Mini doser

Thanks for sharing your story. The thing with the Mazzer is that you're spoiled with the quality and reliability and it becomes difficult to replace it. Something you might want to try is regularly clean the grinder: it makes a big difference: what I do is disconnect, disassemble, use a vacuum cleaner to get red of the coffer stuck on

Cafelat Robot day 1 issues - Help needed

Honestly, it was a great observation, which helped me understanding how a badly aligned or locked PF can mess the shot up Apparently, Paul only realised this other technique in late 2021

WDT latest understanding?

I'd suggest a much cheaper alternative to a DE1 is to insert filter paper disks in the puck. They create an imprint of the flow uniformity, exposing channels. "Filter paper shot forensics"

Blooming with needle valve, Weber Unifilter and screen puck

When I tried this with my Gaggia Classic Pro, the puck resistance dropped significantly, and the shot ran fast and tasted under-extracted. I postulate the rapid discharge caused the puck to 'piston', crack, and form severe channels. The discharge process probably varies between machines - for the Gaggia it's pretty violent. The effect is pretty apparent when

SSP 64mm Burrs Review

Review of SSP 64mm Burrs[/size] Several of the HB moderators have used or tested these burrs, and in this review, they will give their views. There are some disagreements. I (Jim Schulman, aka another_jim) tested the HU, MP and the version 2 cast steel burr (sometimes called the 64mm Lab Sweet burr, and which I label CSv2.) The disagreements

How to calculate Area Under Curve?

I just reviewed the current Artisan code on github: AUC is still calculated as per their 2016 blog post, that is, linear temperature x time. I don't use Artisan, so doesn't seem my place to be making requests to the devs. I was simply looking to the wisdom of Artisan for guidance on my own spreadsheet-based

New Chinese Single Dose Grinder

I bought it from Alibaba for nearly half the price of Aliexpress. I was looking into P64 but the wait time was just tooooooo long. Are you sure it wasn't at low speed? I haven't noticed clogging at any speed. Plus, it comes with bellows and with a few short pumps (more like

XBloom all-in-one coffee brewer (Kickstarter)

We're not the target market for this. You may know someone who is or even have them in your own household. I think that this is a very interesting idea, end-to-end. I think it has the potential to benefit coffee as a whole by raising the bar as to what a reasonable cup tastes like to the greater market
