Any experiences with Mahlkonig VTA 6ST?

I have a few threads about the 120mm ditting burrs. From the SSP guy, he says he was impressed with the VTA 120mm burrs and less so with the 1203 burrs. I have a 1203 with stock burrs which I installed NOS. They are similar to a ditting 804 machined but I think a bit less unimodal. Personally I find

Mazzer Robur S vs Mahlkonig E80S GBW

I used the classic robur s in cafes. Always off by a bit. We used fast scales and a little dosing cup to scoop out over doses for every shot. A gbw option is overdue. Personally I'd modify one to be gbw for a cafe. Mazzer grinders will never leave you stranded. Mahlkonigs I've used were great but

La Marzocco GB5 no water flow at group head

Brew solenoids would be the first thing I would check. A bad flow meter won't stop water, just cause a flow alarm

Blueberry (or any berry) bomb coffee recommendations?

Just got my two pounds. Certified blueberry taste. Very natural-y, almost anaerobic tasting. Thank you so much. Edit: this coffee " Israel Degafa, Wush Wush Natural " {link}

La Marzocco GS3 Tea/Hot Water Dripping - Removing Solenoid?

I use a proper wrench on the stainless part and an adjustable big guy on the brass part. You can keep everything on the machine and not mess with those tiny bolts or brass fittings if you can hold the body solidly while you unscrew the stainless part. Go ahead and order the new solenoid plunger (or

La Marzocco vs la Spaziale - maintenance and failures

As someone who posts about LM machines and noticed the same thing before I got one, please don't draw any conclusions about the posting frequency. It mostly relates to how many owners there are of the machines and their use. Mine was in an Apple office for 10 years with no maintenance and bad water....

What do you use to clean shiny exterior?

A clean and dry microfiber towel only for the normal film that forms in a kitchen. This will get it back to 100% without any scratches or micro scratches. A little moisture maybe if it's actually dirty. I've had all my panels down to 400 grit sandpaper before buffing them back up. Don't use anything...

Tired of single dosing, looking at GbW

The only solution is a straight through conical grinder like the baratza, or a GBW grinder. They both will hold some non-negligible amount of mostly ground coffee, requiring purging. Maybe the small conicals you can get away with not purging. The solution is a grinder that weights the beans automati...

Ring spanner vs. adjustable wrench covered with tape

External water tank mod?

I had the same question when I got my GS3. The reservoir is pretty small and it seemed like plumbing in would have a few negative effects for my application. What prevents you from simply running the reservoir tube into an external container is that your machine needs to know when it is out of water...
