Quick question re nylon hose connector
Hi. To connect a nylon hose to this type of connector, {image} does one need to use plastic olives and/or a copper inner sleeve, e.g. {image} It looks to me like the shape of the connector may be meant to mash the nylon into submission as it's tightened, eliminating the need for the olives / inserts

1998 Elektra A3 resuscitation attempt
Hi Stefano et al., Are there high-temp push-connectors like these commercially available? My initial searching turned up lots of plastic wire-splicing /connecting things, but nothing that looks like it's made to be disconnected/reconnected easily. Any pointers? Thanks! Owen

1998 Elektra A3 resuscitation attempt
I have recently acquired a 1998-model Elektra A3 that came with no pedigree and a sketchy back-story. ("works great" the ad said... but... not even close...) It came missing its level-fill box, and, weirdly, the tube that connects boiler to steam-valve. Stefano, bless him, had both these parts in st...

Advice request for removing stuck bolt/cap
Well, rght now the visuals are unimpressive - a removed cap, basically. But i have a little borescope and will certainly post some photos of the inside of the HX. I'm now waiting for a shipment of gaskets etc. from Stefano. Once that arrives I'll also post some photos of my attempts to bring this th...

Advice request for removing stuck bolt/cap
I'm back to report that the HX cap has just been successfully removed! I did a few applications of penetrating oil over 24 hours, then after the breaker bar arrived, I tapped the cap with a hammer a bit, did a few minutes with a blowtorch, then applied a not-frightening amount of torque, and presto....

Advice request for removing stuck bolt/cap
Hello. I am trying to fix up an 1998 Elektra A3 whose top HX bolt I have been unable to loosen. Here's a photo - it's the big thing with hexagonal indentation at bottom. {link} I have so far tried penetrating oil, and an impact driver with the appropriate hex attachment. I've

Looking for Elektra A3 guts
Hello. I'm wondering if someone might be able to help me with a recently-acquired 1998-vintage Elektra A3. It looked spiffy from the outside, but it turns out to be missing its boiler-fill control box, and, more troublingly, the tube that runs from the boiler to the steam-valve. 1st-line has the con...

Breville Dual Boiler Mods and Maintenance
Hello Peter and assorted BDB gurus. I'm writing to introduce myself, and to say thanks for all the info, advice, photos and videos you have collectively shared here. For the last month I've been compulsively reading every single post in this and other dual-boiler topics. In June 2013 I bought three ...
