Breville Dual Boiler Mods and Maintenance

Well the OPVs are no doubt assembled by hand. It seems not at all out of the realm of possibility that someone got it in crooked and ended up mangling it. It's been a while since I had my original OPV apart. Before I plumbed and switched to a rotary pump, I was using a prosumer brass OPV in my

I haven't used a vibe pump in my BDB since early 2019, so memory fades. But it sounds pretty normal to me. What happens to pressure if you let it run against the blind basket for a whole 60s? Does the pressure stabilise at a certain value? Your test video is too short to be determinative. Also, one of

Careful heating. The tube is PTFE, which is highly heat resistant. And it might not behave the way you expect, when heated. So be careful if that is the route you take. I think the way they get the ferrule in there is by a press. You might be able to put some pliers down on the brass ring, and

Rotary pumps can be loud too, but a different kind of sound less irritating than a vibe pump. Mine is silent mostly because my pump is done like commercial machines... Which means it is away from the machine, and under the kitchen sink, with the softener. It's also buried by a bunch of junk my wife ...

Was the old o-ring you replaced all munged up? So far for me, on my mid-2018 machine, I've been able to get by with packing a little silicone grease up in the bottom. My next trick when I get around to it will be to wrap the spring from a clicker pen around the rod, just

Welcome. Didn't read your whole post yet. But something serious caught my eye... corrosion. Corrosion is different from limescale. Neither is good, but mild scale can be dealt with. Corrosion cannot be. In espresso machines, corrosion is most often caused by chlorides in the water. Note: chlorides a...

well, the pump is completely serviceable... IOW, it can be diassembled, inspected, and re-assembled. If you think something has gone crook with it after you fiddled with it, you can always do so:{video}Personally I would guess that it's not the pump, but for peace of mind...??? If you're getting air...

Ah sorry, I missed that bit. I have to agree with Odor that it's air getting in. Did you put a zip tie on the low pressure tube that feeds the bottom of the pump? You don't have to make it crushingly tight, but you also cannot allow air to get in. I have a carburetted outboard boat

Those are the right sizes. #007 for the PTFE tubes, and #010 for the sensors. ... BUT... In the spirit of "don't fix it unless it's broke" (sic) The #010 sensor o-rings rarely go bad. Most of the steam escape events associated with the water level sensors is steam escaping up in between the steel ro...
