What's the worst used espresso machine you have ever seen?
I thought only computers had bugs in them

Mahlkonig K30 Vario vs. Mazzer Robur E
A friend of mine had K30, then upgraded to Robur-E. Later on he switched back to K30. Mostly because Robur-E was wasting so much coffee when flushing the grind path. I think he calculated it to be worth something like 500 euros per year

Baratza Vario-W: How to load the portafilter?
Baratza should design a single dose "doser" that replaces the bin in Vario-W. So the grinder would grind designated weight into a small chamber in the "doser" and then you would quickly thwack the grounds into your portafilter. Because the "doser" does not need to dose at all, it could be designed t...

Baratza Vario-W: How to load the portafilter?
Has anyone yet integrated a funnel with the bin, so that you could evenly and cleanly dose by just turning the bin upside down on the portafilter?

Budget (<€100) grinder in Europe for french press and moka
I would go for a burr grinder also. A manual one, if nothing else works out. Wilfa is a Norwergian brand and unfortunately seems to be mostly available in Scandinavia. Maybe some of the web stores would ship to Germany also? Breville is the only rebranding that I know of

Budget (<€100) grinder in Europe for french press and moka
I would recommend Wilfa CGR1. Here in Finland you can get it for 60 euros. At that price range, it really blows away all other competition. CGR1 has very nice conical burrs. I have it sitting next to my Vario and like it a lot. I have done some testing and Wilfa maybe even produces a slightly cleane...

Mahlkonig Pro M locked up...
Have you tried digging grounds out with a stick? One thing that I did not try when I had the grinder was to use some sort of drill bit or corkscrew to drill out grounds through the exit chute. If you have nimble fingers, you can also try to feel where the blockage is. The challenge is that

Mahlkonig Pro M locked up...
Sounds exactly like burrs being jammed by the grinds that are stuck to the exit chute. This was irritatingly common in the early models and I am sorry to hear that it can happen in the improved later models also. The only way to fix this that I could come up with is to use some sort of stick

Mahlkoenig Pro-M vs. Mazzer Mini E
The exit chute got blocked and the grinder stopped turning. I had the same issue with Mini-E, if I accidentally ground too fine (Turkish). With Mini-E, cleaning it out was a bit of a pain, but doable. And when you learned to dial in your grinder properly, the problem never returned. With ProM, it ha...

Mahlkoenig Pro-M vs. Mazzer Mini E
Have you had a peek into the grinding chamber? Somehow the idea about never opening the chamber seems scary to me. Grindz cleaning does not dislodge dust that is stuck in the corners of the chamber. With my ProM I saw something like this; As time progressed, choking issues became more frequent and h...
