Hey JW - on your piston - you have two seals, one that expands on the way up - and one on the way down - it's due to their shape. If you have no pressure/resistance on the way down - then take a look at the TOP piston seal. Orphan espresso has many videos and

Thanks for chiming in. I think I will order a new gauge and see if it behaves differently - though I suppose once you have two, it's hard to tell which one to trust. Maybe I'll just make some adjustments over a few different sessions with the same coffee/dose/grind and see what tastes right

Hey Team - I've had my cremina for more than 20 years now and it was my dad's before that. I've seen a few things do this and here's what I'd recommend: First - check the wiring to see if your wires are hardened or crumbly. If so, replace all of it with hi-temp insulated wire
