Older PIDed HX powers on, pumps, but no heat!

Simple test. Wire the output of the SSR to a table lamp, insulate the connections well with electrical tape, turn the unit on. If the lamp lights up, the SSR is good (unless it is breaking down under load). If the lamp doesn't come on and the led of the SSR is lit, you have found the problem

Is this heating element blown???

I had a defective element on an HX that was doing the same thing. Found the true cause when I was shocked wiping up a spill and touched the frame while in contact with the water. In my case, the voltage was reading 110v from the frame to ground..OUCH! The element was still working and not blowing th...

Gaggia Baby Twin with dropping brew pressure

The Gaggia needs a ~30 minute warm up regardless what the element light shows. Spend a bit of time observing the heat cycle as shown by the on and off of the light and try to start the pull just before the light cycles off. This ensures the element is on the entire duration of the shot

Best espresso machine for budget around $300

Non-pressurized. The Classic has been shipping with a single basket, double basket and a pod adapter basket. They have been throwing in a rubber disk with a pin hole that can be used as a pressurizing device...it is usable to backflush if one doesn't have a blind basket

DIY Tefal coffee roaster project

2 rpm is way too slow for the drive motor. That explains the uneven roasts in the pictures

Absolutely cheapest decent espresso machine (w/steam) & grinder combo for 2nd set-up

Check the breaker box. I have a 1991 40' diesel pusher and all my kitchen outlets (2 ) are 15 amp. Think it's 45 amp shore and 30amp gen but I have pulled a shot with 1 of the roof mount a/c units running. A gaggia baby class works well for me as a traveling machine

Gicar flow meter

Definitely flow meter. Raided the old Astoria that's waiting for a complete rebuild and has the same Gicar. Just switched out the top half and buttons now accept programing. I ordered a hand full of Hall effect sensors to play with so if there are positive results will report back

Gicar flow meter

I suppose I was being a bit lazy by not researching deeper before asking the original questions. Thanks for the replies. I have not one but 2 o-scopes, just didn't want to dig them out and the Fluke meter should be quick enough to capture the pulse when turning by hand. Actually a link off the threa...
