Filter 2.1 brewing (Decent DE1)
I'm confused and maybe I need some clarity I thought one uses the Coffee Filter basket in conjunction with a dripper like a Hario. It sounds like you're just putting coarsely ground coffee inside a 22g basket and using Filter 2.1? I have the Coffee Filter basket from Decent and I've been using it with

Office Coffee Drama
I did this for myself only, but then the Safety patrol came around saw it in my cubicle and nixed it... Can't blame them, with an exposed boiler - high heat and high pressure who knows if someone came into my cube and tried it when I wasn't around. We had a "coffee club" but

Intelligentsia Roasting lighter than TW, DAK, Manhattan (CONFIRMED)
I've been slurping Black Cat since I started with espresso back in 2008 or so. This cat changes skin every now and then Through the years there have been reports of it being too sour, too bitter, too light, too dark, even too chocolaty , ie different than the last time they tasted it. Here's someone

Intelligentsia Roasting lighter than TW, DAK, Manhattan (CONFIRMED)
Give the Black Cat Sublunar a try. They describe it as I found it to have more chocolate flavor than the Classic or Analog with less "fruity" or bright flavors

Intelligentsia Roasting lighter than TW, DAK, Manhattan (CONFIRMED)
They do have various blends of Black Cat. I"m curious how their new "Sublunar" Black Cat blend measures compared to Classic. I've put in an order in addition to my Classic subscription for comparison. I do know compared to Saka I don't consider Black Cat a "classic" espresso blend

Shaken vs stirred: I'm a believer!
Interesting indeed! Great observation. The science of coffee or .....maybe the culinary art of coffee is deep and wide. When I started making espresso back in 2008 (with my Mazzer Major doser), there was the chopstick stir (which I believe was the genesis of your WDT) and yogurt cup method. Maybe we...

Decent Espresso temperature discussion
Re: temp profiling; see the following, albeit for a pourover. Possibly similar principle applies. Start at 90C dripping, then immerse at a lower temp. "Kasuya's new "Hybrid" Hario Switch method, also works on Clever dripper" Re: temp on roast levels, it has been noted that the darker the roast the l...

Decent Espresso temperature discussion
Matt- like RapidCoffee mentions in his post prior, the rule of thumb applies on the DE1; difference due to its temp sensor on top of the puck
