Profitec 500 Reservoir Leak
Woke up this morning to find the counter covered with cold water. Tracked the leak down to the reservoir. When the water tank is out of the machine, there is no leak. Only when seated is there a small leak (see below after replacing the tank for about 5 minutes and then removing). Is there any

Weird P-Stat Behavior
Pat, Great pics. I have ordered a new P-Stat. Not a big fan of rebuilding a component when $60 will get a new one. Good advice on working on the system. The blue flash was enough to make me careful!

Weird P-Stat Behavior
Thanks for the comments. With power off, I checked the high limit controls for continuity: all good. After heating up this morning, I took the following video. At 16 seconds you can see (and hear) the contacts close. You can hear the boiler heating up. At 24 seconds you can see the bar behind the co...

Weird P-Stat Behavior
Profitec 500 non-PID. First I had a situation where the machine did not heat in the morning. Reset one of the high limit controls. (BTW would appreciate if someone could explain what the two controls do, that would be much appreciated.) Several days go by and everything is great. But since I have th...

Temperature profile never flattens
I have a Profitec 500, non-PID, with thermometer. Elevation 6,000 feet. After an hour morning warm up, and anytime more than 15 minutes after pulling a shot, the idle temp is 207. I can flush down to 195. But whether I flush & wait or flush & go, the temp peaks between 204-206 within 10 seconds

First time seeing a Kees van der Westen in action
{image} Came across this in Aarhus,Denmark at the Street Food market. Multiple small food shops densely packed under one roof. One multi-lingual barista handling everything for queue of customers 2 or 3 deep in front. And great coffee to boot! If you are ever there, try the ice cream on a stick. Tot...

CG Olancha Report Variances
5280grindz - I have been purchasing Ouachita Mountain CG from my Parker, Co King Soopers for the last year. Usually on sale for 89 cents a gallon. After a year using a 50/50 mix with distilled, practically zero scale when I checked a few months ago. {image}

Suggest some new mail-order coffees for me to try (espresso only)?
+1 for the Malabar Gold. It takes a bit to dial in but worth it. Triple basket works best as they recommend 20 grams +/-. They do provide good extraction guidance

Getting ready to check E61 mushroom for scale
Update on checking for scale. First of all, as a non-DIY guy, I was shocked at the cost of the wrenches that I will probably use once a year. Oh, well. I did purchase the Teflon rebuild kit from CC for $9.95. MUCH better than WLL where I bought my Profitec. They wanted to charge

Getting ready to check E61 mushroom for scale
Thanks for the info. Best place to source the spare components? I ask because like most things Italian, Home Depot will not have what I am looking for
