Thanks for the insight, gtemkin! Is this something that a layman could do? I'm guessing you would need tools to replace switches. Would it just be best to buy the new PID controller for $140 from chris' coffee? {link}

I'm having the same issue as OP with my PID. Did you ever figure out how to fix it or did you replace the PID?
