Grinder / burr recommendation for someone who switches coffee a lot

I'm not recommending, per se, but as someone with a DF64 and SSP MP burrs, I would trust my setup to handle the back and forth. The bellows + RDT make it near zero retention, and I don't even always purge going between espresso and pour over, much less I don't think you'll really need to purge betwe...

Always experiencing astringency in V60

I have read up some on astringency in coffee and it turns out it is caused by specific compounds and we mostly need to pay attention to how well filtered the brew water is. Meaning, the coffee bed acts as a filter and we need to reduce bypass to reduce astringency. I saw that your brew times were ar...

Breville Precision Brewer usage?

Hmm, I had this brewer awhile ago and no longer have it so I can't check, but I feel it should only be asking for the cup if you are in pour over mode (for use with the pour over adapter specifically). I don't know if that setting should effect anything other than the my brew mode. This mode

Challenge: new single-serve brewer for coffee desired

I would have to agree with the AeroPress for this use case. I am going to say the paper filters are probably the best bet, as cleanup of a metal filter would require water (which you won't have at hand) or a paper towel, which would be more paper waste than the filter - which are cheap and small. Ho...

Discovered green tint in cloth filter, how to fix?

I'm not very familiar with mold removal, though it looks like there are a number of ways that you might consider food safe - vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, washing soda, boiling water. I would probably boil it, then turn to one or more of these to remove the staining. There's nothing wrong with giving ...

Container size for 2.2lb of beans ??

Personally, I find that when your container has air in it, even if it's not opened frequently, it's going to accelerate bean aging. This is the concept behind the airscape containers, which work pretty decent. But if you're using it within a month, you're probably fine, but I would think about freez...

Thoughts on using a double bloom for pour-over

So I did just try it and for me, I had an issue with waiting 40 seconds until the second bloom pour because my second bloom didn't drain before my first large pour. I used to do 30 seconds then second bloom pour. I still agree two blooms are typically useful for gassier coffees, but for me it's not ...

Container size for 2.2lb of beans ??

I would also recommending separating the batch into airtight containers (vacuum seal bags preferred but not required, a ziplock can do okay) and freezing. Then just keep a smaller container that you use daily. So what I do is have the smallest Atmos container and then just refill it after it empties...

When to adjust temperature for pour over coffee?

Here, I'm brewing a coffee that I tried with 208+ F water and decided to lower my water temp, so here is what my process was for figuring that out. First brew was a bit bitter, so I ground coarser. The coarser again, and I noticed the bitterness wasn't going away and more problems (like astringency)...

Thoughts on using a double bloom for pour-over

I absolutely have done double blooms for very fresh, gassy coffees. However, recently I have just been doing a single 60 second bloom and I feel this might work very similarly. Kubomi, 3-4x bloom. I've had very consistent draw downs. In the end our blooms don't look much different, because you're us...
