First Impressions of Decent Espresso DE1+PRO

I pretty much followed John's advice above and had no problem pulling some excellent shots. Started by dialing in with Sweet and Gentle, then moved to the Milky Drinks profile - modifying slightly per advice of a member at the Basecamp DE forum. Both resulted in success. Then tried Damian's low flow...

Review of the Decent Espresso DE1+PRO

Got my DE1PRO v1.1 last week and been shaking it out. Although my prior experience was limited to a PID'd Gaggia Classic, as an engineer the pull toward Software Defined Espresso was hard to resist. Been playing around with various profiles -- the default that came preloaded, my own, and some posted...

Grinder suggestions for Gaggia Classic?

Disagreeing is fine. It's what forums are for! I've had an MDF as long as I owned a Classic (bundle from WLL). The biggest problem is that it's stepped and at the espresso end of the scale, you have only a few steps available to you, which gives you almost zero ability to dial in

Grinder suggestions for Gaggia Classic?

This video covers it: {video}As for your other questions: Auber sells a PID kit with instructions specifically for the Gaggia Classic. I agree with the recommendations on Grinder. Very hard to get an espresso grind with anything cheaper than those recommendations

Pharos 2.0 upgrade kit--can upgraders share their experiences?

I completed my 1.1 -> 2.0 upgrade. All went well except that I discovered that my 1.1 didn't have the nylon washer that goes on the shaft before the locking collar/pointer. Never had any issues with my 1.1, but with the upgrade there is too much of a gap between the burrs even when the lock collar i...

Kustomcoffee is very good for darker roasts. Sold at Oakton farmers market on saturdays and sometimes at Whitehall Farms market. Also selling now at 29th Parallel in Fairfax Station, which is an excellent coffee shop. Not affiliated with Kustom...just a fan
