La Marzocco GS/3 randomly reboots

When I did the firmware upgrade on my GS/3, the first laptop I used had some kind of glitchy port which allowed it to zap the firmware but not complete the write. So it would wipe the firmeware and then install ~85% of the new code. The machine would turn on, nothing at all would display on the

La Marzocco GS3: New Rules

Just for clarification's sake, the GS/3 has been available for around that $5,700 since it became widely available - it just wasn't publicly advertised at this price. So I don't think this is a change to pricing, as much as a change to MAPP rules (assuming these folks are following them)

I love my Cimbali Max Hybrid, but . . . I got a "new" Mahlkönig Vario

I have both a Versalab and a Ditting KE640 Vario (same grinder as the Mahlkonig Vario). I can't speak for grind/shot quality, as my Versalab has never properly worked (documented in the long-running Versalab delivery thread), but the Ditting/Mahlkonig is significantly less messy than the Versalab. M...

Delivery time for Versalab M3 Grinder

I've had it since the last week of July/first week of August. During that time it has already been back to VL once, to fix what they say was shipping damage but what was clearly assembly error. I was told that during the time they had it back they replaced the bearings - I would assume this would ha...

Delivery time for Versalab M3 Grinder

I do have one, and it's what I primarily use. The distributions are nice and even most of the time, but yet still thin and blonde early. I grind and then do a quick modified stockfleths. I'm just getting sick of dealing with Versalab and their machine that is wonderful when it's in perfect condition...

Delivery time for Versalab M3 Grinder

A question for everyone - can new burrs be too sharp? I finally have my M3 back and working, but the pours I've been getting from it are far inferior to what I was getting from my CMH. They are kind of thin, and lack volume. I've tried multiple beans from several reputable roasters, including Fresco...

Delivery time for Versalab M3 Grinder

Versalab says that it's during shipping ... Laura's actual response was: I don't know that I buy that, especially given the location of the funnel sweeper in mine. There was simply no way that my grinder could have been bench tested prior to shipping with the static and funnel sweepers in the positi...

Delivery time for Versalab M3 Grinder

Well it's on the way back to Versalab - they paid for the shipping back to them, which I wasn't expecting. I'm going on vacation for 10 days later this week, so hopefully it will be fixed and back shortly after I return. I really want to like it - it's really nice looking and feels so solid and heavy

A better view. I think I've sorted out what's wrong, too. It looks like where the shaft is set through the top plate, that it's canted just the slightest amount, so the whole thing is off by maybe a degree. {image} {image}
