Are expensive espresso machines really better than Nespresso?
IMO some of the replies saying the process for making manual espresso is steep or complicated are overstated. It really isn't that complicated... you grind beans, distribute them evenly in a basket and tamp them down. There are a lot of nuances but this really isn't difficult and does not take long ...

Asian Counterfeits of Slayer, Kees, Nuova Simonelli...
China has its own bizzaro version of the world in some ways. I've found Chinese versions of forums that are recreations of the original, I'm guessing they are cleaned-up versions intended for Chinese citizens to see in place of the real forum. The amount of energy and time that goes into the Chinese...

Asian Counterfeits of Slayer, Kees, Nuova Simonelli...
These rip-offs are likely very dangerous. They build as cheap as possible and don't follow any regulations. With the combination of elements at play in an espresso machine this is a major point. If you're electrocuted and dead "saving" money won't seem so important, and as far as value goes, you're ...

Asian Counterfeits of Slayer, Kees, Nuova Simonelli...

There are counterfeits of ...

Slayer Espresso Announces Partnership With Gruppo Cimbali

My morning of flames coming out the side of the espresso machine.
Hopefully just a few wires melted due to excessive resistance in the connections. I'd inspect, clean and tighten if not replace all electrical connectors in the machine while you're at it. Def replace that terminal strip! Good Luck!

Owner experience with Bezzera Strega
IDK... I have a used K3 I got for $300 and it works great with light roasts and the Strega. Maybe some grinders won't but not sure you need to spend so much, a friend has a huge conical priced >$2k and with light roasts I'm not sure it's any better. It has a wider sweet-spot and is

Strange channeling I can't fix... Help!
That's what I do, using a bamboo skewer, but you can also look up "WDT", I forget what it stands for but it's basically stirring the grounds
