Meaningful upgrade from Lelit Bianca V3

Having spent quite a lot of time working with the Micra and several grinders across a range of roast levels, it seems clear that we have different opinions. My comments on the Micra at "La Marzocco Linea Micra Espresso Machine Review"

Meaningful upgrade from Lelit Bianca V3

This may be true for your choices in espresso. However, for contemporary espresso that statement does not seem to apply. I agree that the Micra is a great machine for contemporary espresso, even doing a very good job with medium and medium-light roasts

Moka pot question about the amount of coffee in the filter basket

One of the things that I've seen in technique videos is to remove the heat source once the coffee starts flowing. Here's one of many videos for some ideas {video}

Breville Dual Boiler

Some people that are chasing top-quality coffee go beyond RPavlis-style water into blending water for specific GH and KH, even to the point of which mineral or minerals are used. RPavlis gets you to the point where you're not putting your machine at risk of significant damage and there is enough min...

Help me figure out this model Astoria Argenta - AEP/2N

The pressurestat you are adjusting is to set the steam boiler. Somewhere around 1-1.5 bar is typical. HX machines need a flush routine to manage brew temperature. See, for example, "HX Love - Managing the Brew Temperature" I would give the machine at least 45 minutes or even an hour to warm up. Just...

Breville Dual Boiler

RPavlis is easy and functional TWW is expensive and isn't flexible if you're into adjusting water for your tastes in coffee. For someone pulling traditional espresso, TWW and custom-mixed water both may be overkill. Fridge-style filters generally don't do much about hardness. As a result, they gener...

Good coffee roasters for espresso

I would start by searching the various threads on "comfort espresso". Coffees change with time, so anything more than a year or even less ago may have changed significantly. What your own preferences are will matter a lot. "Medium" means different things to different people and different roasters (a...

Lagom P64 Flat (Option-O)

On break-in -- The automobile industry hasn't "solved" it for $30,000 cars, or even $300,000 cars - "The [Ferrari] Speciale owner's manual recommends the car be driven relatively mildly (keep revs no more than 5K) for the first 600 miles or so." At least for me, I'm not willing to pay the cost of la...

Lagom P64 Flat (Option-O)

I've also found the biggest changes to be in the first few kg. A dose-sized scoop of around 20 g lets you check for stones and maybe is around a minute per scoop. That's around a kg per hour. Maybe an hour in the morning and one in the evening and your burrs have a few kg through them in
