Burr shape (geometry) matters (much)?

So, I replaced the burrs. The fines stuck at the spout are much less than before, and when I mix them with the dose they are not noticeable. Consistency is very good, though it was consistent before with the used burrs, except for the larger amount of fines stuck at the spout. I am not sure if a bre...

Burr shape (geometry) matters (much)?

Ohh, forgot to mention they are rebadged Cunill/Gaggia, and the lower burrs has no holes as the old ones. The burrs' price is ~40 including shipping. Since I bought it with used burrs, I would not be able to compare the new against the old ones. Hope it will be alright. I will go ahead and replace the

Burr shape (geometry) matters (much)?

Hi, I posted earlier in another thread about my used Bunn I bought from a store. I found that the burrs are cheap to buy, so I got them. The shape of the burrs I received is different from the ones I had on the grinder, and from the one displayed online. {image}

Bunn Express grinder: fines causing bitterness?

hi folks, I checked the burrs, and found that the lower burr is misaligned. I fixed it. Still, I get fines, but I feel they are not as powdery as before, a bit coarser to the feel. Now, when I mix the fines with my dose before adding them to the portafilter, I get reasonable/fine shots.

Bunn Express grinder: fines causing bitterness?

Thanks for info on Bunn's motor. The burrs actually are sharp, which makes me think they are fine. Right? Maybe I need to start with aligning the burrs. I removed the upper burr; but could not figure out how to do so for the lower one--I think I have seen a thread about removing the lower ones

Bunn Express grinder: fines causing bitterness?

Hi, I posted the above question regarding the same problem, but got no answer . So, I did some search and got partial answer, but new question came up: So, I got a used Bunn Espress ES 2G. It produces ~20-25% fines in a single dose, where they stick on the spout. I checked the

Bunn Express grinder: fines causing bitterness?

Hi folks, I have a pre-m La Pavoni. I used a hario manual grinder. It was working well fro me--considering my little experience and immature taste:) Once, I opened it for cleaning, and never was able to get it to work as before. Then, I got a Baratza Encore. The results are inconsistent, but about ~70

I hear water splashes/bursts sounds when pulling a shot

Hi, I have a used la Pavoni. lately, when I brew espresso, I hear a sound like water splashes or bursts while pulling the shot--I really do not know how to describe it in a better way. When this happens, I get a bad shot. This started to happen often now, though not always. This may happen once

Nuova Simonelli Ellimatic electrical problem

I opened the upper cover and I can see that most of the wires are end into "GICAR" black box. I do not know what Gicar is till I searched. It is probably the place where to start looking, but I am not able to lift it. I could not take off the metal side fitted on the frame. I
