2011 Olympia Cremina portafilter gasket

One material to keep in mind for an upgraded group gasket is silicone, similar to what Cafelat offers for the E61 group. I installed a Cafelat silicone gasket in my Quickmill Anita and like it a lot compared to the standard rubber group gaskets

New Olympia Cremina Portafilter Fit

Just to follow up from my end. My dad has received a replacement Cremina that does not exhibit the same issue as the first one. The portafilter appears to fully engage in the group and locks to more of a 5 o'clock position without having to force it. I have not yet taken my Penney portafilter to tes...

New Olympia Cremina Portafilter Fit

Sorry about the delay in replying. Thanks to everyone that responded in this thread about their own experiences. My dad has been working with Cerini Coffee and it is now in Olympia's hands to see if there is an issue with the portafilter fit on that machine

New Olympia Cremina Portafilter Fit

That could be in which case sanding down the gasket may be enough to make the fit better. I did that with a Cafelat silicon gasket for my Anita to get a good fit with a La Marzocco portafilter. The problem would be working with the Olympia gasket material, the gasket is difficult to remove from the ...

New Olympia Cremina Portafilter Fit

I would think this would be something that could easily be caught during quality control by simply test fitting the portafilter into the group but I guess not. That is unfortunate to hear. I currently have a 92 Cremina and prior to purchasing the new one my father had an 88 Cremina and they are both...

New Olympia Cremina Portafilter Fit

Just to clarify, it is not my machine that is seeing this issue, it is my father's Cremina. Thanks for your help. Didn't mean to cause you to worry about your Cremina portafilter not locking properly, was just curious what experience others have had with the new Creminas. Out of curiosity, does anyo...

New Olympia Cremina Portafilter Fit

I'm not sure I understand. Without the gasket it would most likely fit loosely into the group. The group gaskets also have a tendency to rip. The original gasket was destroyed when swapping in a new gasket that the dealer provided. Both gaskets displayed the same behavior though. Without a basket th...

New Olympia Cremina Portafilter Fit

Attached are some pictures when the portafilter is locked into the group as far as it will go. You can see that the ears of the portafilter do not engage very much into the grouphead channel and it appears to jam up on the angled portion of the ear. {image} {image}

New Olympia Cremina Portafilter Fit

My father did take some pictures of the portafilter when locked tightly to send to the dealer when troubleshooting. I will post some showing the pf ears when engaged after he emails them to me. This was my first thought. Everything could be within tolerances but if every piece starts to drift toward...
