Return of the Ventus

Steam wand too loose after lubrication

You might be slightly over doing it with the lube. Really there is no reason for lubing the ball joint itself as Teflon is self lubricating for the most part. More {link} That said, you should put a film around any o-rings in the joint. A dab will do you. Best, Jorian

Boiler overfilling when plumbed-in espresso machine is off

I'm glad your issue was resolved! Just as a note, line pressure is definitely odd sometimes. In your case, the valve definitely needed replacing, but I just wanted to share this thought: If you still have a problem with the fill in the future, try reversing the the fill valve direction. That is swap...

Yes, a screw extractor would work if you can't grab the stub. I've used them with success. Try a set similar to this: {link} I'd advise taking the collar off and putting it in a vice (With padding to protect it from the jaws). Then go slow and take your time. Also, some penetrating oil might

Blown heating element residue in boiler

I can't say that it is "ok" for brew water. But recently I blew an element. A 50/50 distilled vinegar and distilled water soak got my boiler clean. It's cheap and worth a try!
