Profitec Pro 500 Bad Pressurestat???

Thank you Kitt! Your advice was spot on the money. I removed the steam pressure gauge capillary tube (unbolted the nuts at each end) and low and behold there was a small piece of scale blocking the tube at the boiler end. It is a very small opening. I picked it clean with a needle, blew some air thr...

Profitec Pro 500 Bad Pressurestat???

Thanks for the help. I'll remove the capillary tube and see if there is any sort of blockage and soak it in descale solution. A blockage in the tube would explain everything that is occurring. I'll post back

Profitec Pro 500 Bad Pressurestat???

Hi all... I have a Profitec Pro 500 (non PID) that has worked flawlessly for the last 2 years (descaled per manufacturers instructions every 6 months, and backflushed every other week, usually make 4-5 double shot cappuccinos per week). The steam pressure gauge started getting stuck at .5 bar of pre...

Profitec Pro 500 Pressure & Other Recommendations

The pressure should be at a constant 10 bar when pulling a shot. Also I've had the best luck with 17g dose = 34g liquid yield... or 18g dose = 36g liquid yield for lighter roasts... in 25-30 seconds shot time. The Pro500 doesn't like under or over-dosing IME

Favorite Dark Oily Espresso Blends

Yea... I know it's frowned upon like putting ketchup on filet mignon... but that said... for those who like dark roast beans for espresso... what do you like and or recommend? I've tried many of the well-known medium roasts... and they don't taste right to me (too fruity). I really prefer a very dar...

Profitec Pro 500 Pressure & Other Recommendations

Just to contribute.... I've had my Profitec Pro 500 for about 6 months and I keep the steam pressure (caldaia gauge) set to 1.25 idle highpoint... and the brew boiler pressure (pompa gauge) set to 10 bar (long green line when measured with the back flush disc in place). I did have to adjust both of ...

ECM Technika IV Profi vs. Profitec Pro 500

I'm very happy with the Pro 500. I turn it on for 1 hour before pulling a shot. I'd like to get an automatic on/off timer for it. You only need 30-45 minutes to warm up iirc in the instructions... but I like to be sure. The Technika looks like a great machine too, but for my needs the Pro

ECM Technika IV Profi vs. Profitec Pro 500

I had to make the same decision recently and went with the Pro 500. The main differences are the rotary pump and joystick levers on the Technika. Placement of the dials and a few small fit-n-finish differences not withstanding. Since I was not going to plumb the machine directly to my water line, I ...
