Rancilio Silvia boiler - debris?

I assume the debris you found in your cup are mineral deposits. The previous user perhaps did not use the wand much, or there is a lot of deposits in the boiler. Nothing wrong with running a descaler through the pump. I always use citric acid myself. I agree with dfuller, the boiler o-ring could be ...

Need electrical advice: chattering after electromechanical relay mod

Thank you cafeIKE, that looks like a feasible SSR/heatsink install for my machine, sometime in the future. I wonder how how the heatsink gets in yours? my countertop is not marble but a chipboard with laminate top, I'm worried it would create a visible hotspot/mark on it in the long term? Well, I re...

Need electrical advice: chattering after electromechanical relay mod

BB: I've come to understand the pair (resistor and capacitor) should be in series. Actually, the Rocket part mentionned above should have both components based on this review found on the sellers' website: "My Appartamento has intermittently overheated a few times recently. My machine has the pstat ...

Need electrical advice: chattering after electromechanical relay mod

jpboyt: The image of the capacitator is from another user so not actually what needs fixing. The relay was installed to protect a Mater XP110 from a 1350 watt element. I checked the resistance on both the XP110 and the relay coils and they seem ok. The XP110 was already a couple months old when

Need electrical advice: chattering after electromechanical relay mod

Hello! I few years back I refurbished a near 30 year old Brasilia Cappuccino HX single group machine (110V north american version). The original Pstat, connected directly to hot and controlling a 1400watt element, had obviously failed. That orginal Pstat is no longer made so I switched to a Mater XP...

Failed controller box - Help diagnosing failed component?

Absolutely not! As should be quite clear here, I really don't know anything with any certainty when it comes to electronics. You obviously do and thank you for your help. Looking at you pictures, that component connected to pin 14 does in fact look like a Zener (at least the image I found on interne...

Failed controller box - Help diagnosing failed component?

Thanks for all you tips and pointers folks. It turns out I spent and afternoon with some local friends who are electronic hobbyists. We checked most all components starting with the transformer. Even used a multimeter and scope to confirm things. I learned a lot! Very humbling. Curiously, everything...

Starbucks Proteo Grande - need grouphead gasket

Maybe try sales@g3ferrari.net? {link} Otherwize, I would just bring in you machine to a local espresso repair/maintenance shop and ask them then modify a similar gasket to fit. Have them make a spare on the spot if you plan on using the machine for several more years. Good luck!
