Kafatek Flat Burr Monolith Grinder

The Mythos One burrs pour great from day one but definitely get better after 10 pounds and continue up to about 35 pounds. On the Mythos One grinder the timed doses started to lock in and be spot on around 30 pounds

First pull Kafatek Monolith Conical!

The Mythos TiN burrs took a good 30 pounds of beans before they settled down and became rock solid consistent for me

Why I've come to hate the E61 group

It's a mirage! I've never seen one in hundreds of cafes around Nor Cal. I've seen a lot more KvW Spirits popping up lately but they have a different group head

Why I've come to hate the E61 group

I never understood why the prosumer market pushes the E61 as the Holy Grail. When was the last time, if ever, you saw an E61 being used in a cafe?

Kafatek Flat Burr Monolith Grinder

A refractometer is not a test for, nor proof of, a unimodal particle distribution. Single dosing "any" grinder will lead to a wider particle distribution than hopper fed. Upgrading from Rocket R58 + Quamar M80

I've found that the darker the roast the closer to the old optimum shot you will want to be. With a light roast, a longer extraction time will be needed to balance the flavors. 40 seconds like you said works well

Upgrading from Rocket R58 + Quamar M80

6 months ago I would have said the number one biggest upgrade in equipment would be "grinder, grinde, grinder!" But now I'd ague for "flow, flow, flow!" Drop your pump pressure to 6 bars, measured during an actual extraction. AND make sure your water debit is on the low side. 200-250ml during 30 sec...

Kafatek Flat Burr Monolith Grinder

The Mythos Ones are everywhere here in The Bay Area/Nor Cal which peeked my interest. I wanted the most consistent grind possible which I don't feel is possible by single dosing, even with an EK. So while there is a slight bit of wasted coffee I wanted a hopper fed grinder with very low retention. T...

Kafatek Flat Burr Monolith Grinder

Go for the Flat! Verve did. At the main downtown Santa Cruz location they replaced their Roburs with 6 Mythos One grinders. And Monolith is using the Mythos One 75mm Tn burrs!
