Breville Dual Boiler Mods and Maintenance

Been away....good to be back. Quick question--when replacing the solenoid, how are the pins and teflon washers EXACTLY oriented? The pin has a flared side and I'm not sure how to orient it within the washer: solenoid/flared pin end/washer/tapered pin end/base Or???? Thanks!

Also didn't know that IMS made a Reneka-like micro pore basket for which I had no luck purchasing in the US...I see a UK espresso joint sells the IMS version....John49--thanks for the tip

Agreed- like putting a tourniquet around your neck to stop a nose bleed....it works and you'll never have another nose bleed, but... Have played with pressurized baskets, using good coffee--can do fun things with coarsely ground coffee-- but the "new" basket would have variable holes across the enti...

...maybe change the porosity of the portafiter basket-- might be kludgy to have a dynamic, mechanically variable aperture--maybe overlapping screens like a Reneka basket...????
