Are you using the shower screen that came with the mini? I had a good improvement with the ims screen over the past couple of weeks. Still figuring out if it's a significant taste improvement

I have no trouble all the way down to skim milk so I suspect you may have a bad batch. There was a post on here about some batches of milk having an enzyme which inhibits good steaming, perhaps that may be your problem?

From what I understand you might need some sort of emulsifier/stabilizer like Xanthan gum to get the frappucino texture. Sorry I haven't tried one in years to compare but Andrew does seem to have good recipes. {link}
