20-Amp On/Off Timer for Espresso Machine
Thanks for posting this! We recently moved into a new house. Had a dedicated 20 amp circuit put into place for my Duetto but didn't consider how to handle scheduling and remote control like I had with the Wemo when it was running in 15 amp mode. The only thing I would add is a recommendation to

Upgrading and some minor problems
Timer, Wemo, WiFi switch etc. I use a Z-Wave outlet which is controlled by my security system and has a schedule for the machine as well as allowing me to remotely turn the machine on and off an app or web site. Either machine could definitely do both espresso and Americanos

Is clumping really worth worrying over?
It's always up to the individual to determine what one wants and what workarounds one is willing to do. You might want to consider durability. IIRC there are those that have not had durability issues with Baratzas grinders but there are those who have. Baratza's support seems to be good from what I've seen but if you don't want run the risk of having to deal with this the F4E or Major may be a better ...

Upgrade time - Budget around $600 for espresso machine/grinder and need advice!
I would not recommend it. The grinder is very important and should really be your first consideration. Hand grinders will cost less but, as stated above, they're not for everyone. If you want electric, I would suggesta refurb Baratza Vario or Sette but it looks like they will not be available until ...

Can an inexpensive machine make decent espresso?
I can't tell you what your take would be. For all I know, you could be a person who would be happy with a superauto. For me, there's no way a superauto could produce decent espresso. You'd really just have to try and see for yourself. Keep in mind that Starbucks uses commercial superautos though the

Rocket R58 and Rancillo Rocky - do I need a better grinder?
The Rocky isn't overkill for drip. It's a great grinder for that purpose. However, you definitely want to upgrade for espresso

Starbucks Barista - upgrade to Rancilio Silvia, or wait?
This. If the OP was shopping Barista versus Silvia I'd suggest the Silvia but it's really not an upgrade
