Huky - Artisan Fan Control

I've roasted on the Huky for a number of years now, and while the original setup does work, I found myself looking for better ways of controlling the airflow. I have collected all the parts and new Phidgets needed to make either a breadboard version or a soldered version of this circuit, (of course)...

Cyclone Chaff Collector and Fan Setup -Huky 500

The things with the cyclone is quite obvious. Chaff collection which doesn't mess with the airflow and all that, which is why I've gone that route. I have gone through the whole thing of trying the original Huky fan upside down with the "dogbowl" on top, to trying to replace that with a suitable fan...

Looking for a router controller for use in the UK

I checked the UK amazon site with a search for "motor speed controller 240v", which came up with some viable results. I guess I would go for e.g. the top one or something similar

Looking for a router controller for use in the UK

As long as they are 220-240V, you should be able to change the plug yourself (or get an adapter for use with the European style plugs in the UK)

Roasting advice on Huky

On the "crash and flick" issue, I know it's there, but I usually don't do much about it. It's such a quick phenomenon, where you have both the crash and the flick within a minute or two. I remember trying to fight it, but it just got worse. I take it you are familiar with what causes this phenomenon

Roasting advice on Huky

Hi. Well, maybe not "accurate", but your suggested approach is a good starting point. There are many possible reasons for the difference, it could be the beans, thermocouples, ... and last but not least, your personal opinion about when 1C starts (and ends). The rest of it comes with experience. You...

Roasting advice on Huky

Hi Pete! That profile shows that you are up to a good start. The part about what happens with the bean temp when approaching 1C and so on have been discussed in detail, but in short, when the bean(s) crack, they give away some heat. The "thing" is to adjust before this (and that following flick) app...

Need advice: Huky 500T + Cyclone

Hi Chuck. I guess it would be possible for Mr. Li to provide a similar 90deg exhaust as the one seen in the picture from Jonny. That is the one that I got. In a "perfect" scenario, he can make you one without the damper too... Else, as I mentioned in my previous reply here, any car custom exhaust

Used Huky 500T

Well. I have owned my Huky for 4-5 years now. There are very few of these roasters on the second-hand market, as most people seems to keep them. As commented above, there is very few things that can go wrong with them. I had to exchange two thermocouples and the gas gague over my 4-5 years running t...

Book: Coffee Roasting Made Simple by Raimond Feil

I got the book in the mail yesterday. I havn't had time to read it yet, but I will come back next week with some kind of report of my impressions. But from just glancing at the contents etc. it seems to be somewhere in between Scott Rao's book and Rob Hoos' book. There is IMO a significant void in
