Greens Alert
Dave, a couple questions for you: - Does this coffee have much Bergamot/Early Grey flavor? I had 5# of a BLAST YOU IN THE FACE WITH EARL GREY yirg, and I got so sick of it that, to this day, I can barely stomach those types of Yirgs. - Sounds like you'd consider this a "special occasion"

That's what I did in Oakland, except I only sent the email to my wife and her dad. It worked! Also I learned a ton from this competition: - The #4 Guatemala tastes just like a Burundi we roasted for a Huky competition. And now I have two examples to prove that I detest the spicy

I also had lowest moisture loss on #5. And a strong flash during the crack. I'm dead sure of one of them. Pretty sure of another. Have a good guess at two more. And only "throw a dart at that part of the world" for the last. My favorites were #1 and #2.

Sources of Coffee Greens
Whoa whoa whoa this is blowing my mind right now. I just looked up what Daterra is. Many years ago I was doing some work in automotive tires in Brazil. We had several meetings with one of the largest distributors in the country, who also apparently owned a coffee farm. This is before I was

Roast and Learn Together - January 2016
Here's my roast of the GCBC DP Ethiopia: {image} Generally fairly slow drying period with a flattening ET, dropped at the end of first crack (still some snaps in the cooling tray). Don't pay attention to the ROR spike at the end of the roast, it is an artifact of Artisan's interpolation algorithm an...

Roast and Learn Together - January 2016
I did a significantly lengthened drying phase and an early drop with high air. THIS IS THE FIRST DP ETHIOPIA I'VE EVER ROASTED THAT TASTES LIKE IT SHOULD. This is a watershed moment for me. Thank you all

Why do roasters turn heat off at charge?
While I generally agree - I have found the initial stage of the roast to be extremely important for later stages, even make or break - in my experience, on my machine, it's slightly more complex. Our recent R&L in December demonstrated the importance of air flow, and I performed many experiments wit...
