How to tamper asymmetrical, one-legged portafilters for single shots?
I just acquired a brand new and shiny espresso machine. It comes with a "one-legged" portafilter for single shots. Good for my solitary coffee after dinner! However, how do I tamper a portafilter which does not stay properly on the benchtop? Mid-air just holding it in one hand and tampering with the...

Coffee acidity and temperature of the Profitec 700
I just acquired a brand new and shiny "Profitec Pro 700". It is fun to use and operations are very smooth. However the coffee is not perfect yet: I experimented with grind and tampering to get some decent crema (though it does not stay for very long), but the acidity is in all cases a bit too high. I

Pressure gauge infested with little insects - How to open it or find replacement

Pressure gauge infested with little insects - How to open it or find replacement
Yep, that's probably the one. But 100 bucks is pretty steep. - I will try to open it first. BTW, is there a way to use the machine without the gauge attached? Do I have to close the valve the gauge connects to? And if so, were do I get the small closing bit?

Pressure gauge infested with little insects - How to open it or find replacement
Well, I wonder why, too! They came suddenly, from one day to another and must have all died on heating up the machine. And as said in the rest of the machine were none... Thanks for the links! I'll check them out!

Pressure gauge infested with little insects - How to open it or find replacement
Hi there I have an 13 year old ECM Mechanika espresso machine, which still goes strong - however the pressure gauge got infested by little ants. I opened the machine, checked and cleaned the inside of the machine and I am pretty sure there are no insects elsewhere. However the pressure gauge looks p...
