Expobar Brewtus temperature malfunction

Hey- just found out from WLL that there is a reset button on top of the brew boiler for the thermostat, all I did was "empujelo" with the end of a small pin (the diameter of that thing is maybe 1-1.5 mm) and I think we have a successful fix... Hopefully now, I'll be good for another 8 years!

Expobar Brewtus temperature malfunction

Hi, all- I own one of the oldest Brewtus machines (bought in early 2005, I believe), and just now experiencing my first malfunction of any kind-- the temp indicator read 71 deg C yesterday morning, then eventually dropped to 41 before I just shut it off. Since it was Sunday, I didn't give Wholelatte...

Rotary Conversion, Expobar Brewtus

I've been contemplating doing this, too- not going rotary, but more erics's suggestion. If for no other reason, to take advantage of a quieter pump (hopefully) and secondly, to maybe put an end to the air leak problem that installing the deaeration valve partially fixed (I have one of the original B...

Which grinder is this? (updated: Isomac Gran Maccinino)

I'm not 100% sure, but I'd think it's as easy as maybe pulling a pin, and spinning the collar between the bean hopper and the grinder housing (the thing with all of the holes drilled in it). Here's some info from the 1st-line web-site: If you're seriously thinking of buying it, I'd scour the interne...

Ideal degassing conditions

Ahh, the pangs of degassing in public. I just flew in from Milwaukee after a cupping of sorts with some green coffee buying buddies done on Saturday followed by buffalo chili, then dinner at a local Indian restaurant (lots of curry and veggies). The trip home yesterday was a bit umm, uncomfortable o...

Middle Aged Men in Their Pajamas

I think most readers realize that when it really comes down to it, the purchase of coffee equipment is theirs alone. Like one of my economics profs told me long ago, "a free market economy only works if nobody puts a gun to your head to drive your decision-making". It's always going to be "buyer bew...

Dirty pictures and I'm embarrassed! Keep your shower screen clean!

I was guilty of a similar sin- figuring that regular flushing and weekly backflushing of the group (3 x/yr w/ Cafiza, otherwise 2 x/wk w/o- roughly) would have kept it clean, but nooooo... Amazing what kinda of grunge can adhere on the group side. Using Cafiza alone required some elbow grease to rid...

Is your espresso habit unhealthy?

Well- since it's "semi-serious". I admit that I cannot live without coffee/espresso or at least some sort of caffeine vehicle. Work just wouldn't be the same. I actually tried it, once, in 1993 (I actually remember the year, it was so traumatic). All I could do was stare at the CRT.. went back to my

Middle Aged Men in Their Pajamas

Ken, you're such a scientist! Nothing will ever be perfect, especially in the anonymous world of online-forums and blogs. This was the topic in the latest issue of Roast written by it's publisher, Connie. She even acknowledges the relative accuracy of info coming from coffee sites over many others, ...

Got an Expobar Brewtus II

Yep- better distribution will most likely fix your problems. All I used to do was use a fork to stir the grounds (I ground from the Rocky into a tupperware container), then spoon the grinds into the filter basket and do your regular tap/tamp technique, which sounds good. Ray
