Londinium L-R expected today. Process was easy

My original plan was to buy a Kafatek conical. Perhaps the perfect matching grinder for a low usage setup. But doing so would have meant holding off until 2018. The November run was sold out by the time I decided to move forward on the espresso setup. I started reading the reviews and noticed no mat...

The small chain I frequent is called Buon Giorno. There are 3 locations. Grapevine, Southlake, and Ft Worth. All their shops are equipped with Londinium. Link is. {link} I've gone through 3 different coffee beans, 2 espressos and a SO From Peru. I have to tell you the SO Peruvian coffee is a sweet c...

Londinium L-R expected today. Process was easy

I wanted to have a known flavor profile. I chose a local high quality roaster connected to a small local chain. Buon Giorno Coffee in Grapevine (DFW suburb). I've been going there for years and know the management. They also use the Londinium espresso machine (3group). That way I had a reference. Th...

Londinium L-R expected today. Process was easy

Making progress. After 4 pounds of coffee, numerous sink shots, I'm getting there. Biggest thing to get used to was the conciderabke steam power of the L-R. What used to take approaching a minute, now takes less than 10 seconds. Plenty of practice has resulted in a good product. The portafilter view...

Londinium L-R expected today. Process was easy

Mine were marked N/C (no charge). When I committed to Reiss there was a promo and Reiss apparently honored it. Edit: I would email him. I know he's a bit challenged with his new web site and is chasing gremlins. Thanks Reiss. Bob

Londinium L-R expected today. Process was easy

My steam wand is on right, not an issue but the last machine I had was a righty also. I don't think it would matter, just something to get accustomed to. I "think" they can be ordered the other way around, but that's something to reach out to Londinium about. Shipping was 4 days. Was fun to track on ...

Londinium L-R expected today. Process was easy

Silvia goes back some years, Breville filled in the gap. Go for it. It more than meets my expectations. There is a free shipping promo and duty is half the taxes the state of Texas would want. Most ove the competing (lever) machines with this group were more expensive. Bob

Londinium L-R expected today. Process was easy

Ok, part II for prospective buyers. The equipment came in 4 boxes, all appeared to be in good shape and when I opened, everything was packed well enough. The only heavy box was the main machine sans group head. Along with the Londinium (two boxes) I also ordered a Compak grinder, Acaia Lunar scale a...

Londinium L-R expected today. Process was easy

Hehe, sneeze. What I had done was zero the grinder burrs. I set my first guess on grind too fine. So when I pulled the lever, the first shot didn't drip for 15-20 seconds. Oh oh I knew. So I though let it run out. After a couple minutes the lever had returned to the top resting position
