Lagom P64 Flat (Option-O)

Last year I upgraded my NZ for a P64 Unimodal so I think I can answer this one. Both are great grinders and honestly the NZ is also built like a tank. It doesn't make sense to compare conical and flat burrs but basically if you don't drink straight espresso from light roasts and depending where you live the NZ...

Normcore V4 tamper ... grinding noise?

Just got my Normcore v4 today. Yes, I had that grinding noise too. I've since polished the internal parts with 2000 grit paper and it has made a difference. I'm sure I can go even smoother if I decide later that it's warranted. Interestingly the top stud on mine is aluminum rather than stainless, which is likely a good thing...

Quick Mill QM67 Flow/Pump Help

I'll try that and report back. Inlet does have a filter on it, so I don't think it's possible for it to get stuck on one of the reservoir sides with it's own suction.

Baratza refreshes the Vario lineup with Forte components and ability for user-alignment

The Forte steel chamber is quite significant for espresso purposes. The upper burr carrier is threaded in, instead of being held in place by the 3 wings. I bought a Forte steel grind chamber + upper burr carrier separately and added them in myself. The newer Varios remove that part of the process of having to email Baratza separately for...

New Ikawa Home Roaster - 100g capacity

Now their website has removed mention of the free advanced functionality for new customers who were to have purchased this month. I've left a message asking for clarification.

The Picopresso

Just picked up a picopresso and have pulled around a dozen shots with it so far. I'm trying to not unfairly compare it with the GS3, or even the flair, and evaluate it based on its own merits. The espresso is overall pretty good, but there are some obvious extraction difficulties. To me the shots seem like the temperature is...

Homemade Flair Classic puck screen

With bottomless basket, no real danger of donut flow even if it starts around the edge; don't believe to what you see as reality is different which I needed quite a time to realize. Most water goes through the center because of concave shape of the filter, so after tamping, coffee is less dense in the center and water takes...
