SB E61+PID, Episode 2: Tested properly this time, with much better results

@Bluenoser, I used singles, not doubles. 11.7 gram ground coffee, 23 gram in the cup, at about 25 seconds. You can see the specific timings of each shot in the spreadsheet I linked in the OP. The first few shots were longer, as I adjusted the grinder for new beans I didn't previously use. The amount is water that managed...

Hario Air pourover kettle and microwave safety

Eastman doesn't show any applications of that plastic involving heat, FWIW. Perhaps something like this? {link} I have no experience with any glass kettle; I have an Orphan Espresso Pico for travel/microwave duty.

Thanks for running the test and sharing. What do you mean? The way I understand, PID offset is merely to offset the temp displayed. In your case, if you set it to 12C, it will display 91C but actually target 103C in the boiler and brewing temp will match the display.

ARC 800 Roaster

Using propane. Picture shows where I located it outside next to the window penetration. Black hose clipped to the blue wall paneling in the interior photo shows the routing to the roaster. I have 4-1/2" of styrofoam insulation sandwiched between the inner and outer plywood I used to close off the window opening.

Is the recommended temperature (e.g. 93c) supposed to be at the boiler, the grouphead, or the puck (coffee bed)? I'd assume the latter, but want to be certain.

Green Coffee Exchange

All packages are labeled and ready for USPS to pick up tomorrow. (Jae, please contact me). I will keep them inside until I see the post's truck as it is to dip into single digits tomorrow a.m. I checked and can't find an alternative source if you wished to cup along. Burman had some and it is sold out. Bodhi...

DF64 vs Atom 60

Only the build quality of Eureka vs the DF... seems ppl are hit or miss on the DF. Converting Atom to SD should be easy I would think - I know a lot of ppl have done it on other Eurekas. Just wondering if the Atom at 1/2 retail is something to snag.

SB E61+PID, Episode 2: Tested properly this time, with much better results

Great info about the water creeping up the probe!!.. never thought of that.. I would not expect more than about a 10-15C drop on a heated group.. if you are getting 23, wonder if the puck temp is giving you a lower reading than it should.. How much water is exiting when you do your shot.. are you getting about...

Good espresso/barista in Los Angeles?

I'm really curious about this place now. The fact that it wasn't easy for you to get the same espresso as theirs, it means the baristas there are serious about their craft. Ruben
