DIY La Marzocco Linea Micra Scale Tray

Floater. Good in the event of clog or if one isn't plumbed on the drain. {image} {image} {image} I'm going to do another iteration with some minor tweaks. This one is good enough to convince me to keep it this way. Mostly very minor fit optimization. More noticeable, I'm going to tilt the scale a tiny

Decent Espresso news

The UI for the Half Decent Scale, based on Sofronio's firmware, has been much simplified. The weight and time is all that is shown, and the two buttons control power/tare (left button), with the right button controlling the timer (start/pause/reset-start) This is a short video from a few days ago, showing what the scale UI will look like:

Caffeine break

That seems very sensible. Have you found any sort of substitute for a morning cup of coffee? When I first stopped consuming caffeine I didn't have any decaf on hand and tried a cup of miso soup in the morning. I love miso soup but it was not a substitute for coffee

Caffeine break

Yes. As we know coffee has umpteen chemical compounds. I was still having symptoms with decaf, so until I got a handle on all possible precursors, I opted to forgo all. "Wikipedia: List of chemical compounds in coffee"

10,000 rpm? You need to attach a router to a burr set to get those speeds

Decent Espresso news

Thank you for the detailed response. The new features make a lot of sense, the steam cutoff when milk is at the correct temp, integrated scales and the faster heat up with quieter pumps. The bengle really appeals because my partner finds the de1 aesthetic challenging, and the wood finish really fits in better in our home

The genetic history of modern coffee cultivars

Wow! Thanks. This is much better than the articles I've seen previously. The picture you reprint shows how most of the genetic diversity of Arabica lies in Ethiopian varietals. That we knew; but the rest of the article traces the lineages of each of those varietals back to the orginal Canephora/Eugenides cross, which is completely amazing. Someone
