{image} Peak Coffee Experience: Café 3 1/2 in Shanghai I was in Shanghai a few weeks ago, where I had the best milked drink of my life. I want to tell you about it. They only have two beans available, both roasted by Black Sheep. Very, very light roast: no flavors derived from

Mobile or hotel room brewing?

I just have a small travel kettle I can bring along and then some drip packs from April or steeped bags from La Cabra, not as good as bringing your own gear but honestly got tired of the hassle of bringing that along in my backpack and then supplement with whatever coffe joints are in the area. And yes

Espresso shot - coffee appears immediately - problem?

Thing to remember is there really are no 'rules' for espresso, main thing being the taste/texture you like and achieving it consistently. What you describe really depends on many variables at play. I prefer to dial most coffees in to not see the first gloopy drop until as much as 30 seconds, but of course regardless of grind fineness, technique

Espresso shot - coffee appears immediately - problem?

Hi everybody - 1st post here! I read many times about a 5 seconds (approx) delay before coffee flows from the portafilter, but mine appears immediately. My workflow seems to be generally good - I use a Rocket Evoluzione, bottomless portafilter, 18g of ground coffee (dialled in on my Baratza 270) producing 36g of espresso in 30 seconds. I use

Nuova Simonelli pump intermittent

If you remove the back panel of the machine (requires removing top sheet metal first I believe), try rotating the pump motor manually via a screwdriver or similar. If it's sticky or hard to turn (harder than finger/wrist tight), then you may need to rebuild the pump or motor. Worn or corroded bearings could prevent motor starts. If the

Nuova Simonelli Mac Personal 1 - Programming doesn't work

Thanks WWWired, reading your older posts on these machines convinced me to take a stab at mine For closure, I found out from NS directly that the older control boards used manual potentiometer style adjustments behind the buttons. The newer style control panel will have the button method. Thanks for all your work on this board!

{image} Now available: optional lid for DE1 water tank The DE1 water tank slides under the espresso machine, with a few millimeters cap between it and the bottom of the machine. Usually, that is perfectly ok to prevent dust and insects from getting in. However, some places have more insects than others, and so a well-fitting

Sorry, I was referring to the "Timemore Sculptor 078s". And this wasn't the only grinder I had to shim right out of the box, I had the same issue even with smaller burrs and well established manufacturers (Eureka Specialita 55mm) but at least in Eureka's case, the access to the burr chamber and the entire alignment procedure was a breeze
