Truth be told: Elektra Microcasa a Leva can be set to produce amazing espresso or perfect dry steam, not both

As you can see, with the heat break installed, group temperature changes greatly between minute 13 and minute 45 (from 60c to 85c), all with the same boiler pressure of ~1.1 bar. How do you get consistent and predictable espresso during that period? I don't personally think it's possible. Maybe you can get espresso that would be acceptable for some,...

New Izzo Alex Leva - Grouphead loose?

I believe one of the two new ACS Vostek lever will be plumbed-in only. You could then use your new tamper and that hole in your counter.

Kaleido Sniper Coffee Roaster

Good morning. .I'm new to roasting and I'm trying to purchase a roaster. I'm all over the place and I love the Sandbox roaster or more the concept of it. I like the ability to share profiles and roast from them. Can someone share what the experience is if using the Sniper M2 pro and Artisan? Thoughts on the M2...

Lever or profiling espresso machine for light roasts?

How many people get to truly use and compare all of these machines? Hard to say. In my searching, I concluded that a PID-controlled dual-boiler machine in the classic Italian prosumer design was my baseline. Some feel that the temperature variance of a less-expensive HX machine actually improves flavor... but I can't say. You're correct that nearly any E61 machine...

Lever or profiling espresso machine for light roasts?

It was LObin who brought ACS's machine to my attention and I can't thank him enough!

Mystery Grinder! Does anyone recognize this grinder?

It is fun! Scouring the internet for hints. I was able to get to the burrs today and they are very worn as expected. The OD roughly measures 68.5mm. And 16 is written on the motor and cast into the aluminum... {image}

New Izzo Alex Leva - Grouphead loose?

CCS has two machines, one of which is the one I returned and both of which have the same issue. They say they fixed it completely, but to me they have a refurbished feel I'm not comfortable with. Mostly, I'm worried about sleeper issues that aren't obvious now. The Vesuvius def has its perks, no doubt. And I missed that...

It's like hitting a moving target if you are not measuring group temperature. If you're measuring that you can lock in a portafilter that you've rinsed in tap water. Also heat flushes work very fast. I use them to quickly get my Cremina up to temp for my wife's morning capp.

Precise, filtered immersion brewing = superior to pour over?

G-IOTA espresso grinder

Good stuff Chris! I'll be interested to hear your thoughts after doing the same exercise with the lighter roasts. I have a set of SSP Multipurpose on the way. If I can get my friend to come over with his G-iota with TiN burrs, I could eventually do a "blind test" comparing the more traditional Italmill burrs, unimodals and Niche...
