I want to get your feedback on brewing light roasted coffees like almost anything from the Barn (Berlin roaster) or comparable light roasts.
I really enjoy funky and fruity (anaerobic / fermented) light roasts - but I struggle with the following...

I've only picked up this hobby about 5 years ago so maybe I'm missing something but who's buying $175 conventional tampers when you can get really good leveling tampers for under $50.

Is it like driving a manual car? It's more enjoyable if you're good at tamping straight?

So before anything else I'd like to say that I'm not questioning the use of fresh roasted beans nor am I looking to switch to Italian bean blends to drink everyday. I do like more medium roast and traditional flavors and am generally not a fan of 3rd wave, light roasted modern...
