Alternate filter media for Decent Espresso Filter3 basket
That's a good point, although, I did take care to do many small pours and keep the water level up above the bed, so there wasn't a terrible amount of agitation. Certainly, it wouldn't have made a difference with the Chemex filters. SInce you mentioned the Melodrip, though, I do have a comment I'm going to post in

Fuji Royal or better alternative for friend
Is grounding that hard? I would think you could replace the plug with a three-pronged version and attach the grounding wire to the chassis. Would that do it?

A Cafelat Robot or Odyssey Argos arguably can make comparable or better espresso than the R58. There are so many options, all with trade offs. You need to provide more information to make it more than throwing darts blind at the board

That PF wash from eBay and not even the right one. I had to grind down the inside quite a bit to get it to fit around the shower screen and then permanently affect the bottom of the basket. Blind shaker better than WDT??
Pretty sure it's both. Grounds from my 83mm conical are never usable straight from grinding. I tried dumping without shaking and got a nice center mound, did a surface rake then tamped. Still gave me uneven pull and spritzing mess. Tried shaking in a tall catch cup, dumping the grounds in the basket with a portafilter funnel on
