Weber Workshops Key Grinder - user experience

I can just imagine how entertained the producers of coffee grinders going onto H-B seeing all the discussions people are having about their grinders when they know all this already through their testing, but sitting back with some popcorn watching it unfold

Which variable to check

Disclaimer: I'm a newby, just started brewing my own espressos at home. But I did watch a ton of videos, read a lot of pages on espresso and am trying to follow the advice that I found. The issue is that the recommendations are contradictory. I have a Solis Barista Perfetta Plus machine, which has a built in manometer

Water filter question

Makes since because of your whole house softener and a low precision test from the pool guys. The actual number, if you were to use a high precision test would be more than zero, maybe 10 or 20 ppm. Most likely all you need here is something to remove particles, and remove chlorine/chloramine, off tastes

IKAWA Home - profiles

I happened to try cleaning the chamber of my Ikawa Home about 15 minutes after using it for a roasting session - it was still warm but not hot. Using a standard-issue 70% alcohol wipe (moist, but not drippy) I was able to clean out the interior residue surprisingly easily. Just took a couple wipes and some long

Weber Workshops Key Grinder - user experience

I maintain, after PROPER seasoning (20+ lb) and with shots prepared identically, slower RPM will produce fewer fines and faster flow. That graph did not indicate either of those requirements had been met and was provided by the distributor. Until you can change no variables and pull back to back to back shots that run within 0.1g and

Neither formula contains chlorine. The classic does contain some chloride (about 16 mg/L Cl⁻ ion) and the espresso formula does not. The espresso formula also contains that bicarbonate which should make it better from a corrosion risk perspective. Per Taylor Minor of TWW: "Third Wave Water capsules - add to water for better

Water ratio for a percolator

Let's say you have a pour over that's 1:15, e.g. 10g of coffee and 150g of water. About 2x10g of water is retained in grounds so you have about 130g of water in the cup. If you make an immersion brew and want it to be the same strength, and you get the same extraction percentage, then you'll want

Cheap coffee scales - any to beware of?

I have had a Lee Valley "Mini Digital Scale" (currently 16.50 on the Lee Valley Tools website) for several years and it's been fine. It does read only to the nearest gram - for me that's not an issue. If you look under the tray (where you put the object to be weighed) there is a little raised rim that
