Here's the above pieces in situ.

The tamper is a 49.3mm Reg Barber brass base with David's fine cocobolo handle.

Now I need to upgrade the lever to brass and strip/polish the copper.

Macassar ebony for an Expobar espresso machine converted to use the ball valve steam and water controls. Portafilter, Tamper, Steam Water and Brew controls and a Tryer of his coffee roaster.

That's what I refer to when I'm thinking Macassar ebony!! What a marvel. Nature can, as always, show the best True art, be it a piece of stone, shell or wood, and the OP craftmanship is as always excellent in revealing the inner, hidden beauty of a simple, basic thing like a humble piece of wood. Bravo!
